Major General Joseph J. Taluto

Major General Joseph J Taluto retired from military service in February 2010 after 44 years of distinguished service. MG Taluto joined the New York Army National Guard in 1965, attended Officer Candidate School in 1967/68 and went on to serve full time with the National Guard in a variety of challenging positions culminating with appointment by the Governor of New York as Adjutant General in 2006.

General Taluto served in the 42nd Infantry Division for many years and held leadership positions as its Chief of Staff, Assistant Division Commander and Commanding General. As Assistant Division Commander, then BG Taluto, led a Joint Task Force of over 2,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Marines during New York State’s response to the events of September 11th, 2001. MG Taluto assumed command of the 42nd Division in 2004 and soon thereafter led the Division and Task Force Liberty during its historic deployment to Operation Iraqi Freedom III 2004 – 2005.

Among the many awards and decorations the General has received is the Distinguished Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, The Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star Medal.

In 2010 MG(R) Taluto established The Taluto Advisory Group (TAG). The Taluto Advisory Group (TAG) is a Limited Liability Corporation with a consulting a focus in: Military and Veteran Affairs, Leadership Development and Homeland Security.

MG(R) Taluto and his wife Susan reside in Palm Beach Gardens Florida and have four children and three grandchildren.
