Esther was born in New Haven, Missouri. When she was eleven years old, her parents moved to Overland, Missouri where she finished elementary school and Graduated from Ritenour High School in 1950. In 1951 she married C. C. Koenig, a Rainbow veteran, 542nd Artillery. They were married 44 years when her husband passed away in 1995.
Esther has two children. Her son, Gary, who passed away in 2004, and her daughter Sherry, living in St. Louis, Missouri. She has 5 Grandchildren.
In 1996 she met Richard Peirce at a Rainbow Reunion in Little Rock, Arkansas and they were married June 1997. Richard is also a Rainbow Veteran, 142nd Engineers Battalion. Both of her husbands served in the European theatre.
Esther retired from Washington University, St. Louis, where she worked as an Administrative Secretary. Esther has been involved in, and held offices, in many church organizations over the years. She is currently Secretary of the Home Owners Association where she and Richard live in St. Charles, Missouri.
Esther was Past National Auxiliary President in 2004-2005 and is on the Executive Board of the Auxiliary and is currently serving on the Board of Trustees and the Scholarship committee.
